Cadet Camp 2020 will be following the same refreshed format: lots of boards, skills and fitness!
Cadet Camp provides those who completed their Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) as part of the U/14 Nipper program, with the opportunity to requalify this award and refresh those skills.
Please note that contrary to previous years, holding a Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) is now compulsory to attend the Cadet program. There will no longer be the opportunity to attain an SRC through the Cadet program. This is due the difficulties we’ve had in doing this in past seasons. The Cadet program doesn’t provide sufficient time to attain this award.
With a stronger focus on water skills, especially boards, we will be inviting down a number of specialist skills coaches the provide extra training throughout the camp.
What will I do on Cadet Camp?
Cadets will participate in a combination of:
- Requalifying Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)
- Board skills
- Fitness work
- Rescue skills
- Scenario work
- Competition skills

IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ
The Portsea Cadet Camp is an extremely popular program. Contrary to belief, this is not a completely ‘first come, first serve’ process. Preference has to be given to those who have previously participated in the Portsea Nipper programs in order to achieve our goal of providing an end-to-end junior development program. Previous Portsea Nipper graduates will have a 1 week priority period to apply before Non-Portsea Nippers.
PREVIOUS 2018/19 PORTSEA SLSC SRC GRADUATES
- Open – 10AM Monday 2nd September 2019
- Close – 5pm Monday 9th September 2019
All Nipper graduates that register within this time frame will be guaranteed a spot on camp, so please do not rush to fill out the lengthy application form; all of the details are important to us.
If you fail to register during this 10 hour window, you will have to register with the Non-Portsea Nippers and your place on Cadet Camp will not be guaranteed.
Please have the following information ready to fill out the application form:
Date of last tetanus injection
Information on any medications/allergies
Family doctor contact details
Credit card for payment
- Open – 9.00AM Wednesday 11th September 2019
- Close – When full
The application form for Non-Portsea Nippers is simply a registration of contact details. Your registration will be recorded as soon as you press the submit button.
After we have confirmed the registrations, successful candidates will be notified and you will then be sent the full registration form to collect extra details and payment.
For your information, if you lodge your application before this time, (ie. During the previous Nipper graduates priority period) your application will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list.
We look forward to having you on Portsea Cadet Camp 2020!
