Opens from 9:30am on the beach on the western side of Sorrento Pier

Please ensure your timing transponder is securely strapped to your ankle (on the outside of your wetsuit) – no transponder, no time. This year we are using reusable transponders which will need to be handed in at the end of the race. Loss or non return of the Timing Transponder assigned to you on the day of the Event will incur a charge of $50.
Race starts at 12:05PM as soon as the 12:00 Sorrento – Queenscliff ferry has departed and is safely clear
Please ensure you are at the start with plenty of time to spare
The Rosebud RSL Drums and Pipe Band makes a welcome return to keep you entertained at the start
SAFETY DURING THE RACE
During the Swim, should you need assistance, simply raise your arm to signal one of the lifesavers from Portsea SLSC who will attend to you as quickly as possible
After clearing the finish area, head up onto the grass at the Portsea Camp (steps are adjacent to the finish and will be sign posted) to collect your well-earned refreshments. Please be careful on the stairs leading from the finish line to the presentation area as there can be unseen hazards.
Dr. Tony Dicker has kindly donated his time and will be on site to provide free skin checks for any of you needing that little bit of guidance for any of those questionable spots

Presentations will commence at around 2pm once everyone has had a chance to enjoy refreshments and relax. We will also be welcoming swimmers into the 10 and 20 year Swim Club.
PARKING & SHUTTLE BUS (SORRENTO TO PORTSEA – RETURN)
A reminder that parking around the registration/start area is extremely limited, and with the traffic for the car ferry it can quickly become congested. Sorrento Police and Mornington Peninsula Shire have parking officers in the area and will be targeting anyone in violation of posted parking signs, as well as anyone double parking and blocking traffic flow. To avoid a costly fine, we would urge all competitors and spectators to avoid entering The Esplanade leading to Sorrento Pier and instead to park out on Point Nepean Rd (either east of the pier past The Baths Restaurant or West of the pier up on the cliff past The Sorrento Hotel) and walk to the registration/start area. Alternatively, arrange for someone to drop you off up near the Hotel Sorrento and then walk down to the pier.
As in previous years, a shuttle bus will be in service to carry spectators from the start area to the finish area at Portsea Oval. The bus will depart shortly after the start of the race at approx. 12.30pm.
The bus will then operate a return service to take competitors back to the Sorrento Pier area. Multiple trips will be made as required, with the first return trip departing Portsea Camp at approximately 1.45pm.
PARKING & SHUTTLE BUS PORTSEA SHOPS TO PORTSEA CAMP
Due to the continuing support to the PSLSC by the Sorrento Hotel we will be utilising their bus to run a shuttle service from the Portsea Car park area (Newton Reserve) to and from the Portsea Camp Oval.
We have retained the bag identification and collection from last year with a waterproof tag being provided that you are able to wear with a matching tag for your bag. You will need to show your tag at the collection point to verify bag ownership. We have introduced multiple colours of tags to help with bag collection.
This year a separate truck supplied by “Master Movers” will be used to transport the gear to Portsea Camp Oval where it will be unloaded and at placed in a designated holding area near the refreshment’s tents. Although we will take as much care as possible, we will take no responsibility for any bags or their contents. This service is provided at the “owners risk” and we will accept no responsibility for any losses or damage that may occur.
